1 March - 4th Biennale Asian Art Exhibition, Bangladesh, 1989

• On the left and center are two color trials for the overprint commemorating the 4th Biennale Asian Art Exhibition. The overprint was finally issued in black (The stamp on the right) and was printed on the 10 Taka value of the 1986 Paintings of Bangladesh stamp. This stamp was issued on 1 March, 1989.

• The two imagea above are the cover and the original artwork folder for the cancellation. If you compare the two images you will see that the images are very similar, but changes were made to the final design.

7 March - National Science and Technology Week, 1989

• Original artwork for the Dhaka cancellation. The size of the folder it is glued to is 7 x 3 3/4ins. (17.8 x 9.5cms), with the actual artwork being 3 1/8ins. wide (8 cms.) It states under the artwork that it is to be reduced to 2 1/2ins. (6.3cms.).

• Two different Camp (on-site temporary post office) cancellations exist for the issuance of this stamp. Illustrated above it the cancellation for the Rajarbag Police Line (Dhaka). A second cancellation exists for the Sardah Police Academy Post Office (Rajshahi).

FDC: Yes. Commemorative postmark. Two different envelopes. The one for the stamps has a drawing of a man with a sword slashing at bodies on the ground. When the strip of two stamps and a labe were applied to the envelope, part of the design is covered. The larger envelope for the SSs has the blue, white and red logo of flying birds. Some SSs are found on plain envelopes provided by the collector.

12 Sep. - One Year of Bangladesh Army in UN Peace Keeping Operations in Iran-Iraq War Front

• Scarce block of four with the name of the country and the value missing, of the 4t stamp from the two stamp set for the "Involvement of the Bangladesh Army in UN Peacekeeping Operations, 1st Anniversary", issued on September 12, 1989. This set was printed by the Russian printers (Kniga) for Bangladesh. Errors from their printings are rare. To date, only one sheet of 50 stamps has been found.

Additional: This is the only instance where stamps in a set were printed by different printers. The low value was printed in Russia and the high value in Bangladesh.

• Above is the stamp printed by the Russian press that has a CCM. The second stamp of the set was printed by the Bangladesh press and does not have a CCM.

• The stamp on the right appears to be a dry printing of the gold around the TV set and the wording below it. Some consider it to be totally missing. There does not appear to be any other color under the gold, therefore one must assume it is a dry printing.

• The 1989 year pack sold by the Post Office. Cost of the pack was 2 British pounds, as indicated on the bottom of the image.
